What can I do?
You can sign up to the mailing list here and you can participate in campaigns/send in objections when prompted to do so. But you can also help others do the same. Tell family, friends and neighbours about the mailing list. Help people who struggle with the computer by keeping them updated and by showing them how to write and send in an objection or a campaign letter by snail mail. Guidance on how to submit planning objections can be found via our Objections! page. In addition you can write to your Community Council and ask them to object.
I did not receive a welcome email. What now?
Wait a little while, it might just be delayed. Check your spam or junk folder. If you are using a special email provider try adding our email address to the whitelist. Try signing up again, using another email address if you have one. If nothing helps, get in touch. Further details here.
How can I help with a campaign?
Our campaigns are carefully selected in order to help focus attention on the urgent need to protect the landscape and rural residents from the effects of the onslaught of energy related developments in Caithness. Each campaign is unique and details will be provided and assistance sought at the appropriate time through information provided through our newsletter and/or web site.
What is the best way to submit a planning objection?
The easiest way is to object by email. You will need the relevant email addresses and the relevant reference numbers. You will find them in the emails we send out and in the list with the overview over all live applications here. Send your email to all relevant email addresses and include the reference number(s). Don’t forget your name and address. More detailed instructions can be found on our How page
The deadline is past, can I still object?
You can object until the planning application has been decided. Objections sent in after the deadline will count as late objections. All the applications found in the list here are worth objecting to.
Who can write an objection?
Anybody can write an objection. You are not limited to one objection per household. Everyone in your household can send in their own objection.
Can I not just send in a form or copy someone else’s objection?
No. An objection has the be the expression of your own views and it is much better if you write something yourself. It can be very short and it doesn’t need to be well written, but it has to come from you.
What can I write in an objection?
Why bother at all?
You may think that all this is not worth the effort because developments will get pushed through in the end anyway. But your objection will help Councillors to stand up for rural Caithness in the Highland Council. If the Highland Council objects, applications go to a Public Local Inquiry and will be scrutinised again. The more applications go to Public Local Inquiry, the better the chances that they can’t all be pushed through. Change starts with little steps and together we are strong!
